In Blair, a dozen Blair High School students with Pastor Roger Hjelle formed a Youth Council to run the Red Balloon youth center. They renovated a 4,500 square foot former hatchery on Main Street, sold booster buttons, and stocked the center with homemade furniture and a concession area. Opening day featured a vocal contest with 600 visitors. dances, films, and live music are planned for summer, with John Alvisaker and The Eighth Crusade among performers and two paid helpers supporting ongoing operations.
