Conservation Plan Completed by Hiawatha Valley RC&D
The Hiawatha Valley RC&D committee completed a long range plan valued at about 14 million dollars. It spans 11 southeastern Minnesota counties and involves 34 members from soil and water districts, county boards, and private citizens. The plan follows more than three years of work since the group organized in 1972 and earlier planning with the U S Department of Agriculture assistance.

A Kenosha man, David Jackson, 32, National Guardsman at Ft. McCoy, was fined $309 after a high speed pursuit in Monroe County. He fled officers after being stopped for speeding and outran roadblocks on Highway 21 before final capture by state patrol.
