Crude Bogus Checks Defraud Five Saloonkeepers
A man dressed as a laborer with a dinner pail and trowel cashed five homemade checks for about 75 dollars total at five La Crosse saloons. Each check bore a rubber stamp reading National Bank and misspelled the city as LaCross. The swindler, signing as Harry Fisher, escaped before police arrived. no trace has been found.
