Freight Train Drags Man to Death in Albert Lea Yard

In Albert Lea Minnesota a 46 year old man Howard D Anderson was dragged to death by a Chicago and North Western freight train in the railroad yards Thursday night. He had a sister in Waseca Minnesota and investigators believe he slipped while attempting to board a moving car. The body was sent to his sister for burial.

Grant, Journal Board Chairman, Dies At 81

Milwaukee AP report notes Harry Johnston Grant died at 81 after guiding the Milwaukee Journal for 47 years. He built the paper into a strong daily, fought for its control, and then began transferring ownership to the staff and editors who produced it. Bank Robbed Again in Small Tennessee Town

Greenback Tennessee, population 400, faced its third eight month bank robbery when Merchants and Farmers Bank was held up by two men. Hoeschler said he raised 700000 to pay creditors with 100000 from Batavian National Bank of La Crosse and 100000 from a correspondent bank, 75000 from Merchant's Bank of Winona, and the rest from Industrial Credit Corp of St Paul. About 465000 will pay creditors. the balance funds Pilot House expansion for conventions seating 400 and working capital. Hoeschler said the effort required presenting to banks across several cities and pledging land as collateral.

Four Die In Wisconsin Traffic Accidents This Week

The Associated Press reports four fatalities push Wisconsin 1963 highway toll to 406. Sauk Village resident Raymond Jones, 29, died when his bakery truck collided with a car on Milwaukee East Side. Milwaukee resident William King, 19, and Ronald Uecke, 20, were critically injured. Neenah residents Robert Priebe, 30, and Dorothy Boettcher were killed when a car hit a tree. In another crash near Lake Nebagamon, Walter Peabody Jr., 19, of Fort Lauderdale died after a car rolled over. Peabody had been serving as a Boy Scout camp counsellor.
