Washington July 8 8 The finance committee chairman announced the expected revenue from the Wilson Underwood bill draft at about 70 million dollars closely matching the house bill. Simonds said the figure implies a seven million dollar revenue increase.
Representative Finis J. Garrett of Tennessee will chair the house lobby inquiry committee. The house plans to pass the resolution to create the panel and begin organization Thursday, with the investigation starting shortly after.

Johns had a longtime relationship with the victim and was last seen with her the night of the death. A letter to Alice’s home prompted a father to begin a search as witnesses recalled screams heard near the lake. The body was discovered floating in the water and Johns was arrested after refusing to talk.
Missouri Senator Reed delivers a United Press analysis of Senate lobby investigations. He lists key findings including covert influence by special interests, fund-raising support for allies, press propaganda, and efforts to control congressional committees. He predicts lobbyists will register and appear before Congress.
