Walter F. Baltz 34 of West Salem announced his candidacy for the 3rd Congressional District chairman, citing the need to rebuild the party from the ground up and win back assembly seats and support the Republican congressman. The Labor Department reports December wholesale prices rose 6.8 percent led by weather damage to crops. Overall wholesale prices climbed 1.8 percent, with farm products advancing across grains eggs hay oil seeds livestock and fibers while fruits and vegetables fell 5.1 percent.
