United States Senator Jeff Davis of Arkansas died after a stroke at his Little Rock home. Born May 6, 1862, he served as district attorney, attorney general, governor, and was elected to the Senate in 1907. He married Lelia Carter in October 1911.

Backed by the Wisconsin Association of Optometrists the bill aims to drive out spectacle fakers and optical windsers. A prior bill passed the senate but failed in the assembly by a close vote. Twenty seven states already have optometry laws.
Emil Erickson of the La Crosse Builders' Exchange says 1913 will surpass all prior years for local building.
