Samuel Luce Death Ends Trempealeau County Journalism Era
Samuel Slarton Luce of Galesville founder and longtime editor of the Galesville Transcript died at ninety after a long career as architect builder and writer. A Vermont native who came to Wisconsin in 1857 he helped supervise Gale College and contributed to eastern magazines before starting the Transcript in 1860. He leaves two children W S Luce of Ladington Michigan and Mrs W W Darwin of Durand plus a son George S. Luce now deceased. Funeral is Wednesday afternoon.
