Chicago, Feb 17 Marion Goodenough known as the affinity broker was found guilty on one count of using the mails to defraud. The woman involved was convicted of defrauding William Grable of Dearborn, Missouri by luring him with a supposed wealthy widow. The case includes a request for state action to recover gross receipts and enforce payments, and presents a Wisconsin Central Electric Co annual report dated Dec 31 1907 signed by P M Gelatt.

Portland dispatch reports the steamer Emily Reed ran ashore Friday night with ten seamen drowned. The captain his wife and several officers were saved after remaining aboard until the tide ebbed and they could walk ashore.
John Olson faced circuit court after being bound over by Judge Brindley on charges of setting Herbert Coolidge’s barn on fire over wages Olson claimed were due. The ignition allegedly occurred after a wage dispute, and Olson was sent to the circuit court for trial.
