City Mission hall hosted a Christmas dinner for about 300 of the poor with turkey, all the trimmings, and gifts. Nearly 200 were served at the tables while baskets and hundreds of toys were distributed citywide with orchestral entertainment and a late-night tree at the Main Street cafe.
Washington reports that unless conditions change, Congress will not push parcels post or postal savings bank reforms this session. Postmaster General and president support both measures, but opposition in Congress grows, making unanimous approval unlikely.
Washington December 26. Uncle Sam today has a working balance of only a trifle over two million dollars in actual cash. He has deposited in national banks, however, 248,556,257 dollars. In Findlay Ohio on December 26 Miss Bernice Snyder received a thousand dollar bill from her father William E Snyder a wealthy merchant. The gift reportedly came with the condition that she give up the stage. She has resigned from a Portland Maine chorus and plans a European trip with friends from New York and Boston. the father is said to have secured her promise to quit the stage for the trip.
Stewart Gray, prominent land law reformer and former superintendent of the Manchester poor farm, was forcibly removed from Manchester cathedral during Christmas services for protesting from the pulpit against the birth of the Savior amid widespread famine in England.
Pittsburg December 26. Jackson Stilley, 50, of West Elizabeth Pa, attempting to conceal Christmas gifts, slipped while fleeing younger relatives and fell down stairs breaking his neck.
The 70 year old Sen T M Patterson was badly beaten by F C Bonfil proprietor of the Denver Post in a long running newspaper war. Patterson had published claims of undue pressure by the Post on Denver business men and the clash occurred as he left his home with Bonfil attacking him at the gate and kicking him while he lay.
Madison Wisconsin December 26 Ferdinando Hizzo a local scissors grinder worth 10000 in real estate promised the county court to dispose of his property and move his whole family back to Italy to save his son from the reformatory The court granted until February 15 to emigrate.

Mrs Louise Fuller hosted a party at her Rochester home in honor of her two pet cats one a pedigreed blue Persian. Guests placed presents on a Christmas tree for the felines with ribbons collars toys and teddy bears. Mrs Fuller a Lockehaven Cat club member and Brick Presbyterian church organist presided over the gift distribution.

Minnesota and Iowa expect rain or snow and partly cloudy conditions with similar temperature shifts and a cold Friday. A cold wave moved through Minnesota and Wisconsin with subzero highs, while a low pressure area in the northern Rockies brings a 16 to 40 degree rise from Montana to western Minnesota. The northwestern passage may bring rain or snow tonight and Friday with temperatures rising then falling.
