Diplomats doubt Syria can force a U.N. meeting to oust Israel while Western powers push a censure and negotiation resolution. Syria seeks seven points including condemnation and economic penalties, citing Israeli aggression.
Chicago Milwaukee St Paul and Pacific Railroad faces a possible Christmas Day strike if wage demands by the Railroad Yardmasters Union are not met. The union seeks a $55 monthly raise for about 150 yard masters, who average $465 monthly. A spokesman said the impact on operations remains uncertain.
