Hatfield Dam Completion Cuts River Flow and Lights
Hatfield dam is completed to shut off water to allow the big reservoir to fill, leaving a 24 inch by 24 inch stream to supply the river below. The reduced flow lowers Black River Falls water level by two feet, crippling water power and cutting incandescent lighting to a quarter capacity. Estimated one month to full fill, delaying relief due to La Crosse Water Power Company charter.
