Farm program costs seen trimmed next year
Washington AP reports that changes in the farm sector may reduce federal farm aid costs in 1967. Eliminated grain surpluses, higher farm prices, and strong demand support cutbacks in direct payments for production adjustments and soil programs. Authorities expect savings of 600 to 750 million dollars, mainly by ending payments for idle grain land and cutting conservation outlays from 225 million to 125 million.
