Farm program spending may drop in 1967 federal aid cuts eyed
Washington indicates a 1967 reduction potential as grain surpluses vanish and farm prices rise. Direct payments for wheat, feed grain, cotton, sugar, soil bank and conservation total about 3.4 billion this year, with possible savings of 600 to 750 million next year. Major cuts target feed grains and soil bank land contracts as payments wind down.
