Secretary of War Taft arrives in Oklahoma City to meet crowds before his speech tonight. Earlier in St. Louis he misplaced his grip on his speech and briefly exchanged grips with Senator Warner before reclaiming his own.
Petitions are in circulation in Milwaukee for the pardon of Frank G Bigelow former president of the First National Bank. He was sentenced in May 1905 to ten years at Fort Leavenworth which amounts to about seven years served.
New York August 24 The Packers refused to enter talks with the striking meat drivers announcing that 5 000 men from other departments will be used as strike breakers. When these reinforcements join the drivers the strike backbone will be broken.
Spring Grove will run a special train to La Crosse during the Interstate Fair after Booster day washouts. Local business interests objected to Milwaukee Road charges for using the S M division. Over 250 Booster day tickets were sold before the excursion was canceled. A later meeting will set the travel date on a big fair day.
