Lady Confirmed At Age of 104 in Hermosa Beach

Miss Kate Hukill, a former school teacher born in Fairfield Iowa, was confirmed in the Episcopal Church at her Hermosa Beach home aged 104. The ceremony was performed by Bishop Francis Eric Bloy of Los Angeles.

County’s Worst Crash Since ’47 Near West Salem

Four people died in a Sunday night head on crash near West Salem in La Crosse County marking the county’s worst accident since 1947. Victims are Jesse D. Howard 75 and Mary Wheldon 64 from two cars and Michael J. Isbell 19 plus Arlan F. Romskog 19, both from West Salem. One truck driver, Delbert R. Burrell 37 of Albert LeaMinn, was injured with possible back injuries. Burrell said he was traveling in light rain at 40 to 45 mph on Highway 16 near County Highway.

Coon Valley Crash Fatal To Youth

Joseph P. Frydenlund 21 of rural Chaseburg died in a Madison hospital from injuries after a two car collision in Coon Valley Saturday. Linda Erickson 16 was driving into the east end of the village on Highway 14 when Frydenlund pulled from a service station. Frydenlund was thrown from his car and transported for treatment. Erickson was treated for shock and bruises and released.
