Hearing Set On North Side Bus Service

The Wisconsin Public Service Commission will hold a public hearing May 9 at 9 a.m. in La Crosse City Hall to investigate a council backed complaint against La Crosse Transit Co. over limited George Street service and after 6 p.m. hours. The state moves clocks forward one hour at 2 a.m. Sunday for Daylight Saving Time while Minnesota and Iowa stay on Central Standard Time. Souvanna Fails To Reach Pact With Pathet Lao

Premier Souvanna Phouma failed to reach a settlement with the Pathet Lao to end Laos crisis. Both sides agreed to meet again at Pathet Lao headquarters near the Plaine des Jarres. Souphanouvong criticized alleged American airlifts of right wing troops. Kong Le denied the charge and invited observers to verify troop presence. Youth Killed Brother Missing In Kickapoo River Crash

Ronald Venner 21 died when the car driven by him struck a bridge abutment over the Kickapoo River in Bell Center. Brother Raymond Venner 20 is missing, believed drowned. Passengers Edward Stussey 19 and Joseph Stussey 21 of Fairview were hospitalized with non life threatening injuries.

Wisconsin Schedules New Interstate Mileage Request

Wisconsin Good Roads Association plans a Wednesday appeal in Washington for 32.5 additional Interstate miles including 4.8 in La Crosse to link with I-90. led by Lester Palmer Bob Williams and Lt. Gov. Jack Olson the bid targets Milwaukee Madison Eau Claire and La Crosse with a $6 million La Crosse freeway option along the La Crosse River to connect to major streets. Two Park Vandals Apprehended in Myrick Park Damage

La Crosse police captured two South Side teenagers, ages 15 and 16, for destroying 15 newly planted fir trees and other foliage in Myrick Park on April 9. Detectives Schulm and Wells traced them after tips from boastful reports. The suspects will be referred to Juvenile Court per state law.
