Expect Speed In New Boat Design
The new launches by Abe Pittinger and Bob Henry advance rapidly and soon will be usable. A model boat draws comment for its flat bottom with a concave wheel well designed for low water. Davis, the builder in charge, believes the design could achieve notable speed with limited horsepower, prompting plans for more such boats if proven successful.

Railroads Must Not Cause Delay In City Crossings
After a long railroad committee meeting the group voted to ban crossings from holding any train for more than five minutes in the city. An ordinance will be sent to the common council next Friday. Alderman Downs opposes it, aiming to block passage if possible. The measure targets Mill Street and other Milwaukee road crossings in the east yards, with the Mill Street gatekeeper to manage that crossing. Streetcar flagging across all crossings is to be recommended, including Mill Street, following an engineering report. Local railway officials Edwards and Shaw attended and commented on streetcar track laying, materials, and rail types. The ordinance has passed its first reading and is expected to pass. Also recommended were prohibitions on display of fruit vegetables and meat in front of stores or markets, and the milk ordinance, both accepted.
