A 14 year old boy Rocky Hornstein died after dashing into a car driven by Robert Crammer near Center Street. In the same 24 hour period Dennis Scott 18, a medic at Bunker Hill AFB, was killed in a two vehicle crash driven by Harlan Finn. Kevin Hood eight remains missing after a tornado halted a civil defense search, his brother Mark tried to aid him as floodwaters carried debris downstream near a drainage ditch bridge at TUDE-300S.

Tornado Destruction Rips Alto Area Leaving Homes Damaged
Across Alto Gyo and Holiday Park West a violent tornado tore through, leveling the Leroy Kuhns farm and gusting debris into streets. Homes lost roofs, a grocery store and several houses were destroyed, and power lines and fences were toppled. Residents reported multiple funnels, with injuries including a broken leg and a head gash.
