Junior Women's Club members sponsor a sale at Belk's Department Store on Saturday November 22 starting at 9 30 a.m. Proceeds go to the Children's Home in Greensboro.
Regular Kiwanis meeting set for Thursday 6 45 pm in Masonic Dining Hall. The club will not meet the following week on Thanksgiving night.
W W Smith a Rutherfordton insurance executive will address Kings Mountain Lions Club members at their Tuesday 7 pm meeting at the Masonic Dining Hall.
City firemen rushed to a grass fire below the Joy Theatre on Mountain street Tuesday at 12 40 pm and quickly extinguished it with no damage reported.
A report from the city treasurer's office shows parking meters collected 141 dollars and 42 cents on Wednesday morning. The total reflects the city’s meter receipts for the period.
Co D Fortune of the state highway patrol has replaced W D Sawyer who has been transferred to Brevard. Officer Fortune will work out of Kings Mountain and will move his family here.

Central Parent-Teacher Association will meet in the Central school auditorium Tuesday afternoon at 3 30. The program features a play titled High Pressure Areas by the high school home economics department under the direction of Mrs Audrey Page. The meeting was moved up from Wednesday because of Thanksgiving holidays.
Kings Mountain Junior Chamber of Commerce will again sponsor the Buy a Can Leave a Can project as a Christmas promo. Vice-President F. ae announced the drive asking citizens to donate staple grocery items for the Christmastime grafer deposit boxes at participating stores. Goods will be distributed to those in need.
Kings Mountain Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold its annual meeting Thursday at 8 PM in the City Hall courtroom. Rev. W L Pressly says reports on the past year will be presented and officers and directors will be elected including a fund drive chairman and four directors. Members with a current dollar membership card are voting members and urged to attend.
Hollywood writer Robert Hardy Andrews and stars Rod Cameron Chill Wills and Alice Kelly toured Gastonia and Kings Mountain promoter sites. Andrews said a film about the Battle of Kings Mountain is possible, noting markers along the highway and the turning point status of the revolt. He envisions bringing actors directors and equipment to Kings Mountain if the project proceeds.
Special ceremonies to unveil the portrait of the late Lottie Goforth, a hospital benefactress, were postponed after Robert Moser announced the delay on Wednesday. The postponement followed the illness of Joe Dixon, Kings Mountain hospital business manager, who is hospitalized in Shelby.

Kings Mountain celebrates L. C Parsons retirement after 33 years as utilities head. He joined March 1, 1919, when only 250 power customers existed and streets were few. Now in-city streets exceed 33 miles with paved sections, serving over 2,000 residents. Parsons, a native of Elierbe, NC, will retire January 1, with a month of vacation granted prior to end of active service.

Byron, new North Carolina district superintendent of the Church of Nazarene, will speak at First Church of the Nazarene in Kings Mountain 11 a.m. Sunday sermon and 3 p.m. Sunday dedication at Park Grace Church. He will also address a get acquainted rally Tuesday at Park Grace Church. Announcement by Rev. C. E. McKenzie. Byron comes from Kanakee Illinois where he pastored the college church.
Garden Club Council of Kings Mountain sponsors a Christmas decorated door contest entry blank. Residents must place a check in the division box for their mill or garden club group and return by noon Saturday December 20 with judging between 6 and 9 p m. at specified locations in Kings Mountain North Carolina.
Carl B. Moss son of Mr and Mrs M B Moss received scholastic honors at King's Business College commencement on November 12. He won the senior accounting medal for outstanding record. Other Kings Mountain graduates included Faye Carpenter and Virginia Ledford. The event featured a banquet at the Hotel Charlotte and a graduation address by Dr Harold Hopkins titled Lost Horizons.
Funeral rites for Phyllis An nette Moss four month old daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert J Moss were held Monday afternoon at 3 at the Linwood Road home with Rev B F Austin conducting. Burial was in Mountain Rest cemetery. The child died at 830 Sunday morning. Surviving are the parents a brother Gary Moss and a sister Sheila Moss.
The county hospital board of trustees will meet at Kings Mountain hospital Friday at 10 30 AM to receive bids for the construction of a 13 bed nurses home. Invitations cover general electrical plumbing and heating work.
City voters have one final registration day before the December 6 special bond election to finance sewage disposal improvements. Registration books close Saturday at sunset after two Saturdays with light activity. Ward I added none, Ward II three, and Ward V four names. The election funds would extend sewer lines and facilities per Olsen Engineering Company recommendations for a 20 year plan.

Kings Mountain Little Theatre presents the three act comedy Chicken Every Sunday at Central School auditorium Friday and Saturday at 8 pm. The production features a large 21 member cast and is directed by Meek Carpenter from a script by Phillip G Epstein Julius J Epstein based on a Rosemary Taylor novel. Season tickets at 2.50 adults 1.50 children with three guaranteed shows and potentially four. individual tickets 85 cents.
Will L. Blackburn 60 of Grover a former deputy sheriff and constable dies of a heart attack at home. Funeral Thursday at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. S M Tlughes and Rev. Kenneth Hollifield officiating. Interment in church cemetery. Survived by wife Mae, two sons Grier and Pedy, four daughters, a brother and two sisters, 13 grandchildren. One son John Dixon Blackburn killed in action in Lo France 1944.
Nine program guidance series led by Miss Alice Averitt runs through the week with two final sessions. Thursday at West Elementary auditorium features a high school home economics play High Pressure Areas directed by Mrs. Audrey Page. Monday at Central School hosts a panel discussion by Dr. Robert Dyer, Gardner-Webb, arranged by Mrs. Josephine Weir.
