Ruth, son of Mr and Mrs H L Ruth and Davidson college football star, is a patient at Mercy hospital Charlotte with glandular fever suspected. He was admitted Monday after five days at Davidson infirmary and his condition was little changed Wednesday morning. The Lions club will continue its rummage sale this weekend in the J. R. Davis building on West Mountain street. Project chairman E. E. Marlowe said the sale would run Friday and Saturday and possibly the weekend of November 21 if inventory is added. Doors open at noon Friday and stay open all day Saturday.

Kings Mountain's boys football team meets Forest City Midgets at City Stadium Friday night at 7 30 p m. Admission is free. Dave Neill coaches the Kings Mountain entry made up of players from the East and West teams of the recreation league. The Friday game may wind up the grid season in Kings Mountain as no other games are scheduled here. A large crowd is expected for the game featuring eighth grade age players and younger.

Garden Club District Meeting Draws District Three Members
Garden Club members from Cleveland, Mecklenburg, Lincoln, Rutherford, Iredell and Gaston counties gathered November 5 in Kings Mountain at the Central Methodist Church for the annual meeting. Host clubs were House and Garden, Open Gate, and Bessemer City Garden Club. Funeral services for John J Ray 7 known as Uncle John will be Thursday at 3 PM at his Dilling Street home. Rev W P Gerberding and Rev J W Phillips of First Methodist will officiate with burial at Mountain Rest Cemetery. Ray died Monday night after a weeklong illness leaving 27 nieces and nephews.

Trustees To Open Nurses Home Bids November 21
The county hospital board will open bids for the Kings Mountain hospital nurses home Friday morning November 21 at 10 30. The trustees meeting will be at Kings Mountain hospital with two North Carolina Medical Care Commission representatives and W W Breeze and Associates of Shelby present. Separate bids are invited for general plumbing heating and electrical contracts. The 13 bed nurses home will be modern in design and built on the northwest corner of the hospital property on North Juniper Street. Estimated cost is 40000 with funding from federal state and county government. Plans were approved by the commission several weeks earlier.

Kings Mountain National Guard unit showcased gear and weapons at Otis D. Fen Post 155 American Legion’s regular November meeting at the Legion Hall. Funeral services for Mrs Sara Lambeth Phifer 72 who died at her home on Shelby highway followed a weeklong illness. Floyd Bridges Rites Conducted Funeral services held
Funeral services for Floyd Bridges 39 of Mount Pleasant were conducted Friday at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev Kenneth Hagler and Rev G Camp officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Bridges, a dairyman, died Wednesday from a self inflicted gunshot wound near Lumberton. He was born in Cleveland County and moved to Mount Pleasant. Survivors include his wife Maud Bell Bridges, a son Bobby, four daughters, a sister Alma Lee, and one grandchild.
