Early Chicks Are More Profitable
Poultry specialist T B Mortis of the State College Extension Service says early hatched chicks bring higher profits. Early-bred pullets enter production early, while prices peak June through December. Mortis notes two broods a year improve building use and egg supply, with fall flyback mitigated by extra lighting and feeding practices. Orders should prioritize production-bred stock and early placement. PMA elections in North Carolina set for December 14 with committee members guiding 1951 programs. One farm worker now produces food for 15 persons versus 11 previously.
