Pvt Rufus G Huffstickler, 19, Kings Mountain, is reported missing in action since July 20, 1950, the first local casualty of the Korean War. He enlisted last August, served in Japan from January 23, and attended Kings Mountain High School before enlisting. His parents Stacey and Mrs Huffstickler, of 105 City Street, both work in local mills, and they have a 14-year-old son.

Miracle Farm Day Aug. 31 Final Plans Being Formulated
Final plans were being formulated this week for Gardner Webb Miracle Farm Day scheduled for August 31. A large group of men and magnates will perform a one day job of funding a farm. Shelby Lions Club sponsors with county agricultural workers, press and radio as co sponsors. Gardner Webb College will be principal beneficiary, with a statewide demonstration of modern farming using machinery. The project includes remodeling a house, building a new cattle barn, laying house for poultry, hog farrowing, and a two acre farm while providing vocational training for students. No row crops to be planted.

Kings Mountain Death Culvert Case Settled for 750
A $150 judgment against Kings Mountain was awarded in Cleveland Superior Court, ending a $10,000 damage suit by relatives of Charles Dan Dillard who died after falling into a 10 foot culvert on South Battleground Avenue. Judge W H Bobbile approved the agreement. city and plaintiff attorneys signed. Dillard, 21, died returning from a carnival with friends, living with family on the Kings Mountain Bessemer City highway.

Funeral Conducted For Towle's Father
Funeral services were held Monday morning at South Pittsburg Tennessee for Mr Towles father of Yowephoven and of Kings Mountain. He died last Saturday morning after a heart attack two days earlier after years of declining health. He was a retired businessman. Surviving are his wife and a daughter.

Kings Mountain American Legion Junior left hander Fred Kiser pitched a complete game allowing four hits in a 9 inning win over Hickory. He had previously pitched a seven inning game versus Harmony on June 20 and struck out 10 in the win.
