Arson Trial Here With 40 Jurors and 40 Witnesses
A special panel of 40 men, plus the regular jury and 40 to 50 witnesses, was summoned to select a jury for Manford Lawson charged with burning Charles Carter’s barn in Sugar Creek township on May 26. By 11:30, attorneys had not decided if the case would proceed to trial. The case is one of the term’s noted and will be sharply contested.
