Cora Lena Campbell born July 14 1873 in Sugar Creek Parke County died Aug 31 1907 at 34 after measles led to pulmonary tuberculosis. She taught in Parke County schools and married Theora Sowers Oct 31 1896 with three daughters Luka Phea Dorothea. Her life stressed nature faith patience and maternal devotion in a gracious obituary style.

Lightning destroys Carlson barn in Davis township
Alfred Carlson's barn in Davis township was struck by lightning Thursday night, starting a fire that consumed the structure, hay, grain, and equipment. Two horses found dead near a straw pile 150 feet away were believed to have been struck by the same bolt. The barn, valued at 1500, contained hay and several hundred bushels of grain. insurance about 500.

The twenty fifth annual Maris Reunion was held Friday Aug 30 at L D Ardelotte's Rockville home. Relatives renewed ties enjoyed a kingly lawn feast a short literary program and watermelons at four o clock. Attendees included J D Maris and grandson from Decatur Mrs E M Levi and daughter and Mr and Mrs Bryan from Tuscola Mrs Hiatt from Lawrence Kan and Anna Wilson and children from Veedersburg with reps from Kingman Tangier Marshall Bloomingdale Annapolis and nearby areas. Plans were made to meet again in 1908 at Tuscola Illinois.
