Zeikel Glascock Dies Sudden Death at Age Ten
Zeikel Glascock ten, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Glascock, died suddenly around 1 a.m. of heart trouble after a brief illness, shocking Kingman. He attended school last week and planned to return next week. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. and local schools closed in his memory.

Charles Chamness Death By Own Action Near Marshall
Charles Chamness of one half mile west of Marshall died by his own action on Friday afternoon. He tied a rifle trigger with a string and held the rifle in his mouth, the bullet entering his head and lodging in a weatherboard. His son Hobart found him. wife and children survive, funeral at Friends church in Bloomingdale with burial nearby.

On Friday October 18 M L Thompson's sixty second birthday was celebrated by a planned surprise organized by his wife and children. Orth Thompson of Hillsboro and about forty relatives and neighbors gathered at S W Russell's home after a stroll. A noon meal showcased the ladies cooking, and Thompson received a rocker from his family. Man to stand trial for illegal voting in local option case
Moses Shanks must face trial on illegal voting charges after the Indiana Supreme Court ruled that the local option election held March 1, 1911, in Coyington fell under general election statutes. The Fountain circuit court had dismissed the indictment, but the high court reversed, deciding the Proctor local option law is governed by all election laws, not just general elections.

Operation for appendicitis in Manila area
Glenn Barker oldest son of Mr and Mrs Austin Barker of near Manila underwent an operation for appendicitis Wednesday. The operation was very successfully performed by Dr E D Clark of Indianapolis assisted by Dr F S Cuthbert of this place and Dr S W Weir of Cates it being the latter s case. The patient rallied soon after the surgery and was getting along fine at the last report.

Geo Philipps a 40 year old bachelor of How ard died suddenly last Saturday while returning from Thompson Hobson's sale with a newly bought horse. He grew ill near Harvey Swaim's home west of Tangier and died before aid could arrive. Unmarried, he was engaged to Miss Frazier of Montezuma. Funeral Monday was led by Rev Jack Marshall with Phyleman Lodge K of P Tangier in charge.

Veedersburg last Friday saw Mrs. John Shoaf found in an alley with hands and feet tied. Three men demanded $200 to spare her, while police hunt for suspects and prepare possible arrests. Mrs Shoaf, in poor health, recounted being taken from the home of Henry Shoaf to an alley behind the Central hotel. Her husband runs a soft drink business, and the town awaits court action as evidence is gathered.

Polly, the only parrot of Mrs. Clara De Verter, died at her home on West Wabash Avenue Crawfordsville on October 19 1912 at 6 15 p m aged 19 years after eight months of illness. Paul left immediately with the remains for Lebanon Indiana where the bird will be mounted.
