Clifton trial set for November 22 in Covington

John Clifton brother of the accused will assist defense as his trial on a petit larceny charge for stealing two prestolite tanks near Veedersburg on June 6 proceeds in Covington. A grand larceny count for a Crawfordsville auto theft faces the defendant if convicted.

Needleworkers Club Surprises Editors With Farewell Evening

The Needleworkers Club visit to Mr and Mrs Hudler turned into a cherished farewell gathering. About twenty guests arrived with stew kettles and baskets, shared oyster soup and cider, enjoyed music and games, and presented Mrs Hudler with a carving set. Scott E Ratcliff spoke warmly, expressing the club’s esteem and love.

New Drug Store Set to Open in Cates Town

Preston McClain, longtime local druggist in Cates, has rented the former Ned Inlow hardware space in the S. M. Myer store room and will stock a full line of drugs and sundries. The new store plans to open for business sometime next week.

Glascocks Visit Crawfordsville and Indiana Trip

Mr and Mrs H H Glascock and daughter Katie traveled through Crawfordsville yesterday. Mrs Glascock and Katie proceeded to Indianapolis. Mrs Glascock returned in the evening while Katie headed to Martinsville for a couple of weeks.

Former Kingman Boy Marries in Covington Ceremony

Leland E Massey of Covington wed Miss Mary Young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Young of Mound township Warren county on the 13th inst at the bride’s home. The nuptials were conducted by C J Swain with only close family present. Massey runs an automobile business in the county seat and they will live there.

Thorne-Woody nuptials tied in Williamsport ceremony

Everett Thorne son of Joe Thorne and Miss Maude Woody both of Judyville were married by Rev E L Butler in Williamsport the first of the week. They will live in Judyville after a Danville visit with Thorne’s sister among its respected young people. Uncle Charley Wilkey celebrated his 77th birthday at his Yedda home with a large family gathering. Readers present included Wilkey and Elmer Wilkey and families Covington Cayuga Wm Wilkey and wife Albert Farr and families. Oscar Armstrongs welcomed a fine new boy at their Tangier area home born Monday.

Oldest Fountain county resident Hezekiah Martin celebrates 97th birthday

Hezekiah Martin, 97, a Covington resident and Virginia native, celebrated his birthday last Thursday. Born in Virginia, he moved to Fountain county as a child with his parents and has lived in Covington ever since. He travels downtown alone, remains healthy, and reads magazines and daily papers. His son John D Martin of Covington served in the Civil War.

John Woody Passes Away in Bolton Kansas

John Woody, former Kingman resident, died at his Bolton Kansas home early Saturday. His brother Levi Woody left Saturday night to attend the funeral held Monday. He leaves another brother Lot of Berkeley California and three sisters Aunt Sarah Lindley of this place Mrs Elizabeth Lindley of Independence Kansas and Mrs Hannah Lindley wife of Hiram Lindley near Tangier.

Mrs. Mollie Glascock Dies at 72 in Indiana

Mrs Mollie Glascock died at her daughter Mrs Dora McFadden's home in Danville Saturday evening aged 72. Funeral held Monday at the Christian church in Veedersburg with Rev O W McGaughey officiating. Burial in Rockfield cemetery. Born near Covington May 23 1843 she was married to James Glascock in 1863 who died 37 years ago. Survived by three daughters two Aristocrat? (text truncated)
