Town Council Debates Lighting Plan And Town Election

The Town Council, minus J H Ephlin, discussed an acetylene gas lighting system from Attica Carbide Co and potential $3500 bonds. Attorneys say bond issuance needs a public vote, so no election is set. The election under the new Primary Law remains unsettled as lawyers debate the law’s provisions.

Old Indiana Pa. newspaper plus 1778 veteran era bill

Miss Katherine Van Doyn brought to this office a copy of the American published at Indiana Pennsylvania February 9 1815 an extra edition. The tiny paper is over a hundred years old yellowed with age and handed down in the family of Cornelious Blue a Revolutionary War veteran. Also shown is a sixty dollar bill dated 1778 said to be the pay of soldiers at that time.

Kingman Lecture Course Promises Five Notable Events

The Kingman Lecture Course presents five programs this season. Gretchen Cox Concert Company opens October 27 with Gretchen Cox Edith Kien and Hubert Smith performing violin soprano and cello pieces. George C Aydelott lectures November 27 followed by Concert Favorites December 15. Preston Bradley speaks January 3 and Francis Elendry performs February 16. Tickets available soon.

California grapes spark ten year old Indiana birthday

Mrs. Miles Madden recalls her granddaughter Helen Madden turning ten as a box of California grapes arrives on her birthday. Trustee David Brown of Liberty township, Parke county, visited Tangier for the Riley exercises, and Tangier’s Steam Garter school plans an ice cream and oyster supper on Friday the 15th with commissioner Steve Myer.

Auto Collide on Perrysville Hill Near River Bridge

Two cars collided on Perrysville hill last Sunday afternoon near the river bridge. Ford driven by S W Cramer and a larger car driven by Mr Martin side swiped while passing. the big car went off an embankment but no serious injuries or damage to the Ford occupants reported.

Lucile Rabb and Charles Sil Tunin were married at the groom's parents home with Justice Asa Osborn officiating. A wedding dinner followed. The bride is the Rabbs' daughter and the groom runs a local drag line. The couple plans to live in the Methodist parsonage.

Redenbaugh and Thomas Tie the Knot at Home

Miss Venora Thomas daughter of Mrs Don Thomas of Cates wed Floyd M Redenbaugh son of Marion Redenbaugh also of Cates. The ceremony took place at the bride's home at 2 pm last Sunday afternoon with Rev O W McGaughey officiating. The couple will reside with the bride's mother for the time being.
