Damages Awarded in Train Incident In Benton County

Miss Julia Mitchell a 14 year old girl claimed she was put off a C and E S train at Stone Bluff while holding a ticket to Deal Bluff. She was awarded 400 dollars damages plus 10 dollars per mile for the journey and 50 dollars for nerves. The court noted she passed Kingman last July en route to Coal Bluff to visit a sick sister and spent the night near the railroad track south of Tangier.

Edmond B Ratcliff born August 16 1867 died November 17 1911 aged 44 years 3 months and 1 day. He lived his entire life on the family farm and married Mary D Eshlin on August 12 1906. They had three children Ross Ralph and Dorris. Surviving relatives include his mother three sisters and a loving wife and children. He joined Pleasant Grove Christian church on wedding eve and long served as a faithful churchman and Sunday school worker. His singing and prayers expressed his deep faith in God and community respect for his strength of mind and character. He was considered one of the community’s best men.
