Alfred Hesler president of the Fountain County Agriculture Association has completed the itinerary for the automobile alfalfa tour set for May 27 and 28. The procession will start in Veedersburg with stops at farmer plots in Cain Richland Logan Shawnee Van Buren and Millcreek before a Friday dinner in Kingman and return.

New Veterinary in Town at Redmon Stand
Indianapolis veterinarian M. D. Henley has located in the old J. T. Redmon stand with Dr. J. T. Redmon of Covington forming a veterinary and surgery partnership. Interstate Crew Appraises C. and E. I. Brazil Division
A crew under the Interstate Commerce Commission arrived early this week to appraise the C. and E. I. property in Brazil division. They survey the line to determine true value and note the road is in better condition than expected. The bond issue may be unchanged as ICC has not allowed increases, viewing the feeder line as under-attended. Kingman hopes another company buys the division, linking to a Chicago terminal and southern reach toward Jacksonville, Florida.

Finger Amputation After Cates Altercation
Elmer Shvuaf of Cates lost the third finger on his right hand after a clash with William Woodrow over bootlegging probes. Doctors Stackhouse of Cates and Ratcliff of this place performed the amputation last Monday to halt the poison from spreading. Woodrow reportedly bit Shoat’s finger during the fight, leading to blood poisoning which was nipped by the joint-level amputation.

Decoration Day Program Nears Readiness
Decoration Day plans are nearly complete with the annual tribute to fallen Civil War veterans. The article urges all local veterans to participate to enlarge the line of march as fewer veterans remain. The full program will be published next week.

Mayor Tom McGeorge sued Jerremiah Booe in circuit court before Judge Schoonover. Booe bought a cream separator for 55 dollars, returned it, refused payment claiming it was defective. Linden Post Office Robbery by Two Yeggs
Two men robbed Linden’s post office Friday at 2:30 AM by blowing the safe with nitroglycerine. The blast occurred as a Monon passenger train arrived. witnesses saw two men with flashlights. Rabbers escaped in a car. about 10,000 two cent stamps and 1,000 one cent stamps were missing. cash was minimal.

State's Youngest Saloon Keeper Glover Receives License
W D Glover appealed from the Covington commissioner's denial of his saloon license and won before Judge Schoonover. Chas E Phebus, another applicant, was refused as the quota of six licenses for Covington was met. Glover just passed his 21st birthday and is the youngest saloonkeeper in Indiana.

Presidential Arm Chair Passes Down Generations
Alexander Spring, owner of the former C. B. Landis farm near Delphi, keeps an old mahogany arm rocking chair that has hosted every U S president except the current Wilson. He plans to have Woodrow Wilson sit in it to maintain the line. The chair, a colonial mahogany piece, grows finer with age and draws visitors who marvel at its history. The chair was gifted by former Congressman Charles B. Landis of Wilmington, Delaware.

Seven-Year-Old Crushed in Gravel Wagon Accident
In Covington a 7-year-old, Ralph Smith, died after a wheel passed over his head while playing near a gravel wagon driven by Fred Hodges. Ralph and his brother Ivan were near the Smith home on W Liberty Street when the accident occurred. Hodges is not believed responsible. The incident echoes a past death of Howard Goldbach in a similar event. The father, Elmer Smith, is janitor at Citizens Bank.

Obituary of Mildred English Best Shoaf
Mildred English Best Shoaf died at 80 in Randolph County North Carolina, 1915. She married Robert D. Best in 1857 and had eight children, four of whom survived to adulthood, then moved to Indiana in 1871. Her first husband died in 1863, she remarried Michael Shoaf in 1882, who died in 1896. She was a Friends Church member at Sprimpfield North Carolina and was buried near town after a brief funeral conducted by Sarah W. Lindley.
