Damage Suit Reversed in Miss Mitchell Rail Case
The supreme court reversed a Benton circuit court ruling awarding Julia Mitchell of Earl Park $400 for a 35 mile train mishap in 1911. The 14 year old rode a wrong stop, walked along tracks to Tangier and Mecca before rescue, with the railroad held liable previously.

Prominent Jackson Township Man Dies After Illness
David Fine aged 72 prominent Fountain county resident dies at home northwest of Wallace after more than two years of cancerous trouble. Survived by wife Katherine Krout and numerous children including Mrs Mary Young Susan Bopes Gibbon Wilkham Simeon Fine Alva Fine Leota Young and Delia Bellis. Two sisters Maurie Simpson and Katherine Ferguson also survive. Funeral held Wednesday at Lutheran cemetery east of Wallace.

The Committee on Entertainment aims for the town’s most complete Fourth of July celebration. Ex post master W. R. Jewel of Danville Illinois will be a featured speaker with at least one other prominent guest to be announced. Civil War Veteran Thornton Thompson Dies at Home
Thornton Thompson, 60, a Civil War veteran, died Monday morning at his southwest home from Rangreen. He leaves five children, three sons and two daughters. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. J. Marshall on Wednesday, with burial in Silver Island cemetery. Thompson had lived at Lafayette soldiers' home most of the years since his wife’s death.
