The Kingman free library urges patrons to observe quiet study in the reading room. Do not talk loudly or wander while reading. whisper only and keep footsteps light. Request books from the librarian rather than rummaging the shelves. hours are Tuesday Thursday and Saturday evenings and Saturday afternoon.
The alfalfa tour attracted farmers from Kingman and surrounding areas despite drizzle. About twenty five machines passed through Kingman Friday while Thursday activity spanned the north end of the county. A lecture by Prof Schwab of Purdue followed lunch in the library basement. one auto overturned near Cates with no injuries.
The Young People’s Class of the M. E. Sunday School enjoyed a pleasant evening at Miss Beatrice Fisher’s home south of town last Friday with parlor games and merry fellowship. Mr. and Mrs. LE. C. Hadley and Mr. and Mrs. John Hudson of Danville attended Indianapolis speedway races together Monday. Mrs. Cecil Moore Keifer visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Moore Saturday night. Bring your produce to Booe for fine goods. Mrs. Bert Sywers and baby of Stone Bluff have visited relatives here this week.
A large Kingman crowd marked a fitting Decoration Day with weather clearing for an outdoor cemetery ceremony. Veterans laid wreaths, W R Jewell of Danville spoke for over an hour praising soldiers and Wilsons peace policy, and G W Spencer was elected president for next year. The M E Ladies Aid meet June 10 at Mrs Ira Robbins.

Readiness is complete for the 1. O. O. F. decoration exercises at Harveysburg cemetery next Sunday at 2 30 in the afternoon. R H Hollywood P G M will deliver the address and a notable speaker record suggests an excellent discourse on Odd Fellowship for both members and the public. The Kingman band will provide music and a large turnout is expected.
Local Knights of Pythias lodge plans to decorate the graves of departed members on Sunday afternoon June 13 at 2 o'clock. Rev. B F Clifton of the M E church will deliver the address and offer thoughts on lodge work. A full attendance is requested.
Tonight is regular Commercial Club night with an emphasis on business of importance for the community. Rev. Orley Smith will preach next Sunday at Rushcreek morning service and Tangier Sunday evening on peace. Our prices are right and our goods are right, none better anywhere.
Wheeler McMillen known as the hatless editor of Covington Republican and Newtown Enterprise marries Edna Doane of Covington after a romance traced to 1913. The couple, described as fine people with many friends, plan a honeymoon and then reside in Covington.
Bertha Drake Mann born August 6 1881 died May 25 1915 aged 33 years 9 months 19 days. Survived by husband Asa Mann and eight children except one sister and one deceased child. Born near Kingman resided near Harveysburg educated at Harveysburg school joined U B church at Cates. Funeral at Harveysburg church conducted by Rev Higgenbotham and Rev McHargue.
