Covington business leader Homer B Sewell dies at 70
Homer B Sewell, a prominent Covington abstractor and longtime city resident, died Saturday at his residence after months of illness. He was 70, survived by wife Lena Mayer, sister Mrs FE Nebeker, and brother Bert Sewell of New York. Funeral held Monday at 2 PM with Rev E W Strecker officiating.

The M. E. Ladies Aid met at Mrs. Morton Ford's home on July 10 1913 with forty one members and visitors. A musical program featured Lois Ford Davis from Marshall, a duet by Mrs. Hiram Brown and Mrs. A L Ratcliff, and a reading by Miss Davis. Plans to entertain families at the Hiram Brown home were discussed. Refreshments were served and several members added to the list. The next meeting will be at Mrs. Robert Turner’s on the second Thursday in August.

Dog Carries Mail Ten Miles
Chas Keller, a mail carrier south of town, trains his dog to deliver letters between his home and his father Philip Keller near Freedom church, about ten miles away. The dog runs at night, has completed four round trips, and reliably returns with replies. The animal, half bull and half hound, astonishes neighbors with its punctual, independent courier feats.

Veedersburg Man George Marlatt Dies After Hay Barn Crash
Veedersburg resident George Marlatt died Tuesday in a Danville Illinois hospital from injuries suffered when a load of hay struck a beam at a livery barn. He was taken to Danville for examination where doctors found a broken back.
