Yeddo Old Settlers announce their annual meeting on August 19 at Smith Grove near Yeadu one mile south, hosted by Jackie Sowers. The event includes speakers, a picnic vibe with rides and 10c shows, watermelons, and reunion activities despite a short melon crop.

Rev Clifton Slowly Recovering From Illness

Reports from Rev B Clifton former pastor of the Kingman and Salem M E Churches say he is slowly recovering from illness. His physician has more hopes as he is rational at times and converses with visitors. Kingman residents watch developments with interest hoping vindication may come when he regains strength. Some believe him innocent until proven guilty while others think he is guilty and using insanity as a plea to avoid a penitentiary term. his trial is set for the September county term.

Mother of Chas. M. Berry Dies in Waynetown

Mrs. Nancy Brant, age sixty six, mother of the late Chas. M. Berry editor of the Veedersburg News, dies after several weeks illness at her daughter Mrs. F. M. Pardue home in Waynetown. She had lived in Waynetown all her life.

Town House Nears Completion For Harry Towell

Harry Towell prepared to move into a modern home in the west part of town within a week. Town residents may take pride in the new residence as a notable local achievement. Mrs. F S Cuthbert and her sons visited Bellmore to stay with relatives for a few days. Joe Sanders and son Calvin worked on the roof of R A Booe's store on Wednesday. Smallpox Case Quarantined Near Cates

Preston McLain a Fulton township resident and former druggist of Cates has a developed smallpox case under strict home quarantine north of Cates. Rumors of new cases were false. none exist. Dr. Frank Stackhouse of Cates oversees the care.

A Miscellaneous Shower for Mrs. Lindley

Last Wednesday at the country home of Mr. and Mrs. Chas Gooding near Wallace a miscellaneous shower honored Mrs. Roy Lindley. Guests brought thimbles and needles to help piece a quilt while light refreshments were served and Mrs. Lindley unwrapped numerous gifts. The gathering adjourned late with wishes of happiness and prosperity.

Wood and Crowder Married by Rev Rardin in Kingman

Harry Wood son of Mr and Mrs John Wood and Mabel Crowder daughter of Mr and Mrs Milton Crowder were married by Rev A H Rardin at his home in Kingman Sunday evening at nine o clock. Both parties live near Yeddo and have many friends who wish them a long and happy married life.

J D Sewing Club Meets With Miss Loma McCrary

Destructive Kingman Windstorm Strikes Area

A severe windstorm hit Kingman Wednesday evening causing broken window panes at Ira Duncan and the Kingman hotel, damaged roofs at several farms, toppled trees, and wrecked hog and hen houses. The storm was not widespread, with heavy rain and hail lasting about fifteen minutes.

Veedersburg senior play canceled by weather at Kingman

The Veedersburg High School Senior class play at Kingman Opera House was called off due to inclement weather. Girls arrived by train for the performance while the boys failed to come, and the crowd gathered for the band concert on the street remained disappointed.

Hanley Launches National Prohibition Weekly

Former Indiana governor J Frank Hanley plans a national temperance push by founding a weekly in Indianapolis named the National Enquirer. Hanley will edit with Oliver Wayne Stewart and William M. Conrad as managing editor. The paper aims for Oct 1 start and asserts nonpartisan editorial policy despite varied affiliations.

Vorhees Millikan of Hanford California sends a renewal check and jack rabbit ears to prove the rabbits he sent to his father Charles Millikan were New Zealand Reds not ordinary California jack rabbits. The New Zealand Reds, raised at Indiana Ranch where J G Gordon is overseer, fetch 300 to 500 dollars per pair, while jack rabbits are valued at about 125 dollars. Millikan American pride in his New Zealand Reds and their meat and pet quality is noted.

Liberty Township Commencement Held at Hayworth's Grave Tangier

The Liberty Township annual common school alumni gathering of 1915 met near Tangier in Hayworth's grave for a brief program. Icy Lindley gave the welcome, Carry Williams replied, followed by a bountiful dinner and a baseball game as rain threatened.

New Fruit Tree Law Aims to Banish Tree Pests

State entomologist C. H. Baldwin issues circulars on the 1915 law to curb San Jose scale and similar pests. Nursey stock dealers must be licensed and trees sold must carry a certification of pest freedom. Violations carry a fine of 10 to 100 dollars and certificates may be revoked for cause. Citizens are urged to report questionable dealer tactics to help enforce the measures.

Former President William Howard Taft will speak at the Rockville chautauqua on Sunday August 15 joining a line of national figures that includes William Jennings Bryan Billy Sunday and Elbert Hubbard. Taft is a famed national speaker and is expected to draw a large crowd for Rockville.

Myers Reunion Returns at Catheran Church

The Myers Fine family reunion, once one of the county’s largest, is revived this year after a hiatus. It will be held on August 29 at the Catheran church near Wallace with services planned throughout the day and a call for every family member to attend.
