Kingman to Host Farmers Institute In 1915

Kingman High School to sponsor a Farmers Institute on February 11 and 12 1915. Wayne Cox a senior spearheaded the effort securing members including neighboring Parke County. The association plans Purdue speakers plus local talent with Harold Aroh od, Wayne Cox and A M Ford leading.

Scarlet Fever Epidemic Urges Township Co Operation

Jackson township faces rising scarlet fever illness and calls for citizen cooperation. Children with any symptoms must stay from school, notify the school physician, and obtain a permit to return. Parents should monitor children closely and avoid underestimating the mild illness. Churches and public gatherings should suspend for 30 days.

County Highway Commission led by James A. Copeland releases annual report covering 300 miles of free turnpikes in Fountain County. Total expenditures listed as 22,814.61 after adjustments, cost per mile 70.04 with 11,509 yards of gravel and 2,600 tons of stone laid. Net balance on hand reported at 8,704.25.

Mrs Leota Young Dies After Long Illness Near Wallace

Mrs Leota Young aged 37 died Saturday night at home two miles east of Wallace after months of cancer. Born February 25 1877 in Fountain County she was daughter of David and Catherine Fine. Survived by son Russell stepdaughter Melle Lough mother three sisters four brothers and many relatives. Funeral at Lutheran church Monday 11 am conducted by Rev Alford Lebanon with burial at Lutheran cemetery.

The Kingman Opera House hosts an all star vaudeville bill on Friday night January 22 featuring Case and Rodgers with The Baggage Man, E R Guilford bell solos and escape routines, Claude Harding in A Vaudeville Idea of Musical Comedy, Carson Clayton Co in Who's a Coward, and Roman Sports and Pastime showing strength. Sunday Night Fire Destroys Robins Clore Store at Grange Corner

Fire at Grange Corner seven miles southeast of here destroyed the Robins Clore general store between 7 and 8 PM last Sunday. The origin is unknown, discovered inside the room, with firemen unable to enter as the interior burned. Insurance on the building and contents totaled 2700 dollars. Dee Thompson and others assisted, saving nearby stores and a blacksmith shop at some risk.

January 15 Event For Liberty High Auditorium Audience

In Liberty on January 15 a quartet of colored men will perform old plantation melodies as the fourth item in a lecture and entertainment course at the high school auditorium. The Farmers Institute comes February 5 and 6 with state workers and talks on farming home and regional topics.
