Depot Plan Heard By State Utility Board At Cates
The state public utility commission will send representatives to Cates on Wednesday February 10 to hear the village's demand for a depot. Since the Clover Leaf depot burned a year or so ago the company did not replace it leaving residents with a box car for waiting trains. Citizens hope the commission grants the order.

County approves funds for agricultural agent
In a special county council session an appropriation of 1500 was made to assist with expenses of a county agricultural agent appointed by Purdue University with county approval. The appointment is expected in a few days, ending a long local dispute. John S. Myers, lately buying the Lewis Barker farm near Grange Corner, visited town and left a year’s subscription order for The Star. Myers came from near Newport. Frank Jones was in Covington and Crawfordsville yesterday.

Berry Estate Settled Final Report Shows Large Estate
D. H. Wallace as administrator of Chas. M. Berry’s estate filed a final report noting $4,854.79 remaining after debts and expenses, with $3,000 in residence value. He had advanced $599.90 to the widow and infant, plus $1,000 given to Mrs Berry shortly before death. The report suggests an estate near $85,000, with Mrs Berry and son James E living with her brother in Iowa.

Large crowds attend Liberty Township Institute at the Tangier high school two days of instruction. W B Anderson spoke on cultivating the corn crop and profit from waste on the farm while Mrs Ogg addressed home life and youth.
