Advertising does not pay, claim merchants and one boy
A Telegraph tale notes merchants warn against frequent advertising while recounting a boy sent for water. He pours priming water in, pumps out as much as it pours in, rests, and the priming runs down, leading him to quit. The anecdote likens a merchant who stops advertising after a single effort to the boy’s futile pumping.
