Death by appoplexy claims Lon Riley on Teegarden farm
Lon Riley son of Pete Riley dropped dead Monday while husking corn near the John R Teegarden place. Coroner Parham and Dr Wert ruled death due to appoplexy after a post mortem. Survived by a wife seven children his father mother five brothers three sisters and many relatives. Funeral held Wednesday at the Friends church with Rev Pliny Cox officiating and Burial in Cooper cemetery.

Sustained Broken Leg in Farm Wagon Chase Near Hillsboro
Joe Smith, a farm hand from the ingernal neighborhood south of Hillsboro, broke his leg above the ankle Tuesday morning while delivering coal to Moore coal bank with Ed Hybarger. A wagon collision occurred when Smith’s wagon tilted after a tug detached, sending him airborne. he was treated at Fred Leatherman’s home and by Dr. Wert, then transported home toward Waynetown in John Carter's auto.
