Former Kingman Girl in Cyclone Injured
Miss Mettie Hammel daughter of Mr and Mrs Marcus Hammel of Morocco former residents of Kingman was injured when a cyclone struck while she and a companion were driving near the town. The bogey overturned and demolished the auto. She suffered serious leg injuries, was cared for locally then moved to Chicago for X ray exam to check for broken bones.

Young Physician Dies in Tangier After Short Illness
Dr H Howelson, about 30, recently married to Miss Effie Church of Bloomingdale, died at his Tangier home Tuesday evening from pneumonia fever after a brief illness. He had relocated from Osage, Iowa. The remains were taken to Mrs Church’s parents near Bloomingdale for relatives to arrive from Iowa for the funeral.

Commencement of the 1912 Class at Local High School
The 1912 class at the local high school received diplomas from Supt. E. M. Gifford after speeches by Prof. Geo. H Tapy. The address praised focused study and broad knowledge, urged physical and intellectual alertness, and drew applause. The program featured male quartet singing and orchestra selections amid decorated stage and congrats from attendees.

Yeddo Man Dies in Attica
Milton B. MecColum a farm hand from east of Yeddo died at Attica Hotel on Tuesday morning after cramps that began Monday in a pool hall. He fell ill again later and died on a hotel corridor cot. His mother living four miles east of Yeddo learned of the death and the body was shipped for funeral services held the next day.

Professor Gifford to spend summer on Indiana farm
Prof. E. M. Gifford left here Wednesday for his home near Windfield Indiana where he will spend the summer on the farm with his parents. Next September he will enter Indiana University at Bloomington and take up a course in History Botany and Physics specializing in these three subjects. Mrs Arvilla Cox and daughter Bessie returned to Veedersburg Monday after a short visit with relatives and friends here.

Tragedy as Thomas Whittaker Fatally Blew Up
A devastating dynamite blast on a Hillsboro area farm killed Thomas Whittaker and badly injured Frank Thomas. Whittaker was tamping a one pound charge under a stump when a larger stash nearby exploded, reducing him to a mangled mass and blowing away much of his face and limbs. Funeral services were held Tuesday.

Mrs. Joseph Stevens Dies at 67 Near Tangier
Mrs. Joseph Stevens died at her Tangier home Tuesday morning at about 2 o'clock aged 67 years 4 months and 10 days. She was the mother of eleven children, six survive. Funeral services will begin at Tangier today at 2 o'clock with interment in the nearby cemetery.
