Big Spring Opening by Inlow & Renick Draws Kingman Crowd
A gala day last Saturday capped Kingman’s season as Inlow and Renick staged a large spring opening. The store was packed with customers viewing and buying farm implements buggies stoves and hardware. A balloon ascension and prize awards drew a crowd on State Street as Col A G Madden presided. The firm thanks the public for strong patronage and calls the event a community success.

Ollie Copeland Goes to Springfield for Nose Surgery
Ollie Copeland, whose nose was broken and cut in the Wabash wreck a month ago, left for Springfield Illinois to have the nose reopened and properly fitted. A second operation is needed because initial treatment was rushed and the wound did not heal. He also suffered multiple rib injuries and ongoing discomfort.

New School Building Assured for Kingman School
Millcreek Township advisory board awarded the remodeling and addition contract to Pickett & Hawk of Marshall for 119,8000 dollars. Work to start within days, may 1st deadline, with completion by September 1st. The six room building will include a basement sanitary water system and a first floor four rooms plus hallway. The second floor mirrors floor space but divides into two rooms opening into a large auditorium for socials and entertainments. The completed modern school will be a source of pride for Kingman.

Town Dads Receive Bids For City Street Paving
The town board, after approving several bills, opened sealed bids for paving State street from E S Booe's residence to the C E I right of way. Four bidders offered brick paving with Pickett and Hawk Marshall the low bidder on section one at 144 per sq yd and 1 48 per sq yd for section two. Gravel and stone bids were also received but brick is favored by most property owners. Excavation may begin soon if plans proceed.

David W. Sanders Dies in Indianapolis Hotel
Fountain County resident and author David W. Sanders died last Friday morning at 11 in the Stubbins hotel Indianapolis after a brief illness from diabetes. Born in Jackson township in 1872, he was son of the late James Sanders and brother of County Clerk Leroy Sanders. A former teacher and author of Civil Government of the Indiana Township and the Indiana County, 72000 copies in use, he led the Indiana Rationalist Association as secretary and treasurer. He directed cremation at Flanner & Buchanan and requested ashes returned to his mother, a plan carried out Sunday afternoon, the first such case in Fountain County.

The Kingman Band Grows with New Organization
The Kingman band has progressed quickly since starting a month ago. Eighteen members now attend rehearsals with more promising to join as roads improve. By concert time at least twenty players are expected to be ready for service, ensuring frequent concerts to liven the town. Concerts likely begin around the first of June with performances every Saturday night.
