Easter Birthday at Lindley Home in 85th Year

Sunday at Samuel Lindley’s serene home three miles south of town celebrated his wife Mrs Samuel Lindley age 85 a birthday anniversary. Also honored were her niece Miss Nina Lindley 9 and Mrs Herbert Lindley 41. Easter Sunday birthdate notched a first in 85 years. About GS guests attended and a full noon meal showcased culinary arts. The afternoon brought pleasant talks and gates for children. Guests left in good cheer wishing many more such happy anniversaries.

First Christian church organized in the city

A new church was organized last Sunday night under the influence of Rev Brown with Rev Kibby assisting. Officers were elected and committees formed to secure a pastor and a meeting venue. The Quaker church will host regular services once a pastor is found. Total membership nears seventy as revival ends. Woody sells harness.

Great Easter Day Adds Belmont Church Members

Last Sunday will be remembered by the Christian church as a peak moment for the growing congregation. A Saturday night addition followed by three converts at the Easter sermon. Eld Kelley led a drive to raise 500 dollars to clear church debt, pledges reached 365 within minutes and the full amount was raised before night services ended, leaving the congregation greatly buoyant.

Easter Social Sparks Community Spirit At Opera House

The Easter social by the C S C class of the M I Sunday School at the opera house last Saturday drew a good crowd, netting $29 after expenses for MI EF church. The Kingman orchestra performed, and the AL E Sunday School class grew to 80 members, supporting church work.

Fire protection would boost our sense of safety

They Kill a Catamounts On Catamount Hunter Tale

John Osborn and Jake Dotson pursued what they believed was a fox near Cates Hopper tail road, but the animal proved to be a catamount with glistening eyes. After a two chase, the animal was cornered at Hathaway barn and killed by the dogs. It weighed 16 pounds and measured 11 inches. The catamount was photographed in Cates and sold for 4 dollars, with a possible mate believed to be in the area.

Peaches and Personal Movements in Indiana Towns

Harry Towell transacted business in Covington Saturday while Deputy County Clerk LeRoy Sanders spent Sunday in the city. Mrs B O Hudler visited relatives in Winthrop, and John E Moore conducted business in Rossville and Covington last week. Claude Philpott and wife left for Bloomington to enter law school while Claude will teach locally upon return next September. Fred Harvey to finish Philpott’s school term.

Local residents visited over Sunday from Covington and Pine Village

Fred Madden of Covington visited here over Sunday and Mike Hudler of Pine Village spent the day with relatives and friends. The Kingman fair is set for the first week in September. A number from here took the teachers examination at Covington last Saturday.
