Located on the Main Line 48 miles west of Mitchell and 22 miles east of Chamberlain, this town features a fine public school building, churches, a first class post office, two banks, two good hotels, a large grain elevator with ready material, three lumber yards, several blacksmith shops, good livery stables, and stores representing all trades. The Brule County Agricultural Fair Grounds adjoins the townsite and is described as one of the best fair grounds in the Territory with a good half mile track.

Bishop Andrews delivered the address with Mrs Ellen Foster and Dr Pardee among speakers. a $6,000 subscription was announced. a tin bar containing papers and documents was placed in the corner stone.
