Plan to Keep Up Price of Cotton in South

A plan by the Southern Cotton Association to retire 2,000,000 bales from the market is proposed to prop up cotton prices. Farmers would invest $5 per bale for stock, creating a $100,000,000 capital stock chartered in Mississippi. The scheme contends market retirements would raise prices and reward participants, while critics question the impact and legality. The article also notes the Cheatham matter and a Pine rosin medical claim, with local business mentions.
