Severe electrical storm cripples telegraph wires across New York causing high winds and widespread damage. Syracuse area reports downed houses and casualties, including a man killed at St James Hotel in Cuba. Widespread property losses expected as lines stay down. Piano certificates selling fast.
Los Angeles reports James McNamara to be first of alleged dynamiters tried for the Times bombing. Prosecution may hire special counsel, two million dollar cost expected, many witnesses from the East. Indianapolis notes the American Federation of Labor backing McNamara defense seeking habeas corpus to bring him to Indianapolis.
The May special program in Seneca features old-time melodies, vocal and instrumental solos, brass band performances, and duets by school pupils with Miss Carrie Hunter on piano. Admission is 10 cents, proceeds go to the high school ball team, and the event aims to be the first of its kind in the school.
A disastrous Bangor Maine fire destroyed up to a quarter of the city leaving hundreds homeless and many businesses ruined. Police and National Guard units were mobilized as dynamite was used to battle the flames and aid poured in from neighboring cities. The blaze began near Broad Street and swept along Kin siseng stream toward State and Park streets as residents spent the night in the streets.

Westminster hosts Easley ball team Thursday at 2 30 after rain postponed last week. The Westminster track team won the state cup at Columbia with Bailey taking second. seven medals returned. Multiple local residents attended Columbia meet while others planned trips to Atlanta for events and a box supper to fund church repairs.
Rescue crews recovered eight bodies from the Belvidere Delaware line wreck at Martin's Creek. Three fatally injured, others severely hurt, and the death toll sparked days of mourning with prayers across Easton.
Miss Mary Reese Brown and Fred W. Lewis wed Sunday at 4 PM in the home of the bride’s grandmother Mrs. Susan Burns on Brown street Rev. John S. Vines officiated. The couple left for a future home near Hartwell Georgia with well wishers. A great grand-daughter of Mrs. I. J. Hughs of Richland, the bride has many friends in Oconee who send congratulations.
Dan Cooper, engineer at the Dublin mill of the Southern Cotton Oil Company, died this afternoon from injuries after a blow to the right temple last night about 10 o'clock. The blow, likely from a blunt instrument, has left no skin break. Dick Rowland, 18, son of Deputy Sheriff J. W. Rowland, is detained in Jat. Concross Local Union calls a meeting for Saturday May 6 at 8 o'clock p.m. to discuss important business. all members urged to attend.
