Marion March 24 The Pee Dee postmaster C R Moore is reported missing after an inspector found a $743.16 shortage in his accounts. Moore left a note claiming innocence and asking his family to ensure a proper burial if his body is found. He had run the Pee Dee post office store for two years and also operated a Florence county farm. his family and possible relocation are noted. The shortfall is said to be covered and the government will lose nothing.

Fire devastates Taylor Block in Jacksonville strike
A three story building on Fort Street in Jacksonville caught fire at one this morning threatening the business district. Loss is estimated at 350000 with partial insurance. The H and W B Drew printing plant suffered total loss. Lightning reportedly struck electric wires, igniting storage rooms on the east end of the third floor. Heavy rain aided firefighters as flames were confined to the Taylor Block.
