The late Thomas G Clemson of Fort Hill, Oconee County, bequeathed Fort Hill and a large endowment to found an agricultural college. The will, dated 1886, directs a board of trustees, endowment management, and school operations modeled after Mississippi’s Agricultural College, with conditions for state acceptance and ongoing governance.
