McQuown and Knapp announce moving pictures in Keota with a 5 part Triangle film Hell to Pay Austin and a 2 reel Keystone comedy The Waiters Ball plus a Ford Weekly reel detailing Ford car production. Other program to be announced later.
D F Lee Colorado Springs promoter and R S Gamble Keota sign a lease to drill a 2500 foot well within 120 days from June 12 with drilling to begin by December 12. The Keota Oil and Gas Development Co. will be formed. Lee and associates have Wyoming properties and equipment ready.
A pretty home wedding unites Miss Lorraine Shultis and Mr. George Owens in Greeley at 6 30 p m Wednesday June 27. Rev Whan of the Greeley Baptist church officiated. guests from Keota include Mr and Mrs J L Filer and Mr and Mrs A H Currie. Relatives Miss Mable Shultis sang and Miss Alice Shultis played the wedding march. A five course supper followed. the newlyweds reside at the Owens farm four miles northwest of Keota. a charivari party greeted them Thursday evening. Owens is a respected local resident. Lorraine taught in Keota a year ago and became beloved by the younger set.
Mrs. Marvin Bauer and daughters Lillian and Ida visit Mrs. Bauer’s sister Mrs. Griffin in Sioux City. Mr. and Mrs. Scott visit Earnest and family in Cheyenne. They return home midweek. A red yearling heifer with a large white star is lost. Liberal reward for recovery. Dr. N D Wells Keota and W G Short family head to Portland to locate.
Scoop reveals sensational acts planned for Keota July 4 including Bob Gamble tightrope from schoolhouse bell to oil well, Rev. McKowan on a motorbike, Porter McDonald looping in a Mak a Tractor, and a fire department hose-cart race. Also features a baby show, ice cream, windmill dive, and a grand ball with Nazimova Stewart pirouette. Local volunteers and alfalfa growers contribute demonstrations and contests. Keota invites all to celebrate.
