Nine faculty members were granted leaves of absence and nine University staff resignations were approved by the board of trustees at summer meetings. Dr. John Cuber will join Ohio State University marriage clinic. Howard Hansen leaves for MacMurray College. Willis J. Burner and C F Rumnold retire. Miss Boswell Adams Crow and Harold McClure resigns accepted with new posts arranged. Boswell married in June. Blair granted one year leave to study at Cornell and West Point program. Earl Brown also granted leave.

University Reconstruction Program Plan Near $35 000 Funding
University officials announce a fall quarter reconstruction and repair project totaling about $35,000. The state contributes $25,000 to roof repairs at Wills gym Kent Merril halls and other campus facilities. Dom D'Alessio Co. of Akron holds the contract with bids to be issued next week and work to start within two weeks.

Miss Alyce Hawk fills the Spanish teaching vacancy after retiring Dr W J Burner. She returns from a year in Paraguay at the US Cultural Center and has studied at the University of Mexico. Hawk, from Albuquerque, earned a UNM masters and taught at Stevens College. She will teach beginning and intermediate Spanish and drama.

Enrollment climbs to 843 as fall term nears 900
Registrar E C Stopher reports 843 students enrolled for the fall quarter of 1944 with over 400 upperclassmen and about 390 freshmen registered by Monday. He predicts total enrollment will exceed 900, citing improved housing and the wartime job outlook. About 15 rehabilitation students and four GI Bill students joined, with late registration continuing at fines for delays.

Professors Spend Summer Visiting and Working in War Efforts
