Faculty members extend congratulations on the president’s fourth anniversary in office four years after assuming the role. The message marks the milestone at the university and notes ongoing leadership.
KSU students will hear play by play of a football game Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Hub instead of the auditorium. The move aims for a more informal atmosphere with smoking allowed and a snack bar closed. A direct wire from Storrs to Kent relays the game to the Hub. Emile Linsmaker will rebroadcast to Flash fans.
The KSU Military society sponsors a uniform dance Friday Dec 3 announced Col. Thomas F. Wall. ROTC members and invited guests may attend. Music by the Varsity Five. Held at Maple Rest south of Ravenna on route 44 from 9 to 12. Tickets are $1 per couple.
NTFC invites singers to try out for No Time for Classes on Tuesday November 23 at 5 p.m. in 119K. Bring own music. accompanist provided. Hal Stoneman, producer, selected by Student Council. Martha Lansinger directs chorus and Chuck Whitehead leads the orchestra.
Prof Frank E Ballenger announced a square dance at Wills gym Friday from 8 to 10 pm with no admission charge. Three university students will call the dances.
Mrs Marjorie Gallant from the speech and hearing clinic will speak at a 4 p.m. meeting of the Elementary Education club in room 119K. All elementary education majors are urged to attend.
Fans meet at Prenticegate at 5 p.m. for a pep rally ahead of Saturdays game with the University of Connecticut. A parade led by the band will move through campus with an ROTC loud speaker tour announced by Col. Thomas F. Wall. The team departs Kent at 5 45 p.m. and returns 11 07 Monday morning.
The United Christian Fellowship will sponsor a conference at Kent Congregational church Saturday and Sunday open to all students. Speakers include Dr. Bryant Drake of Chicago and several Rev. figures. Registration runs 2:00 to 3:00 Saturday afternoon with events continuing through Sunday.
Dean Raymond Manchester reports no meeting of the Toppers club this week citing scheduling issues.
President Bowman begins his fifth year at Kent State University with an oath from John R. Williams and an invocation by Rev. Edward W. Wilcox. He forecasts enrollment growth as veterans return, outlines a four million dollar expansion, and notes no WWI veterans denied admission except for housing issues.
Blue Key publishes this year’s student directory to go on sale within a week after Thanksgiving. It lists Kent and home addresses and phone numbers of all students, heads of student organizations, and off campus numbers. David Kaplan edits the 64 page book with Commercial Press handling printing at 50 cents. Profits go to the university stadium drive.
Prof. Elmer L. Novotny head of the art department will speak on Present Trends in Art at the Johnson Hunrickhouse Memorial museum in Coshocton on Friday. He will judge the exhibit and present awards. A painting by Novotny remains on permanent display at the museum.
The most original costumes at Saturday night's Sadie Hawkins dance will earn dinners at the Robin Hood. Judging runs from 10 to 10 30 p m with dancing from 9 until midnight to Jim Hopkins orchestra. Only those in traditional Dogpatch garb admitted.
A $180 check presented to Business Manager Emil Berg by Jack Waggoner, SAM president, represents total proceeds from last summer’s donkey baseball game. The event was cosponsored by SAM and the Kent Junior Chamber of Commerce. The society meets tonight at 7 to elect officers for the next quarter.
