Ten Organizations Enter Stater Rowboat Regatta

Ten groups submitted entries for the fifth annual Rowboat regatta sponsored by the Kent Stater. Races run May 29 on the Cuyahoga River with Gamma Sigma Phi, Beta Gamma, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Theta Sigma Upsilon, Alpha Omega, Chestnut Burr, Alpha Phi Beta, Kappa Mu Kappa, Delta Phi Sigma and Sigma Tau Gamma taking part. Women race at 6 p.m. and men at 6:15 p.m. The women compete for the Russ O Conke silver trophy. men vie for the rotating trophy. Start at Crain avenue bridge and end at Main street bridge. Bruce Handley will start the event.

Peg Curry Reports Conference Conflict

Peg Curry told States members of the unsuccessful attempt by Communist youth to prevent Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt from speaking at a New York City conference. She said liberal student majority prevented a conflict and the First Lady delivered her address. The 24 state gathering at International House discussed forming a national student organization on the war's effect.

Campus K Girl Receives Double Army Honor 1943

From Kent Stater issues, Jane Burge is named Miss K Girl of 1943 by two hundred fifty men in section K at Van Dorn Miss Army camp. The Kent State University student was chosen as the Army’s Miss K Girl and receives a second honor as the group’s selection twice.

League Sets Dinner Date for Senior Banquet

The Women’s League will host its annual senior banquet for 170 graduates on Tuesday June 1 from 6 to 9 p m in the Robin Hood. Florence Rhiel is general chair, Marion Nichols guest soloist and group singer, with Dr Florence Beall delivering a short address and Bettie Morris giving a toast. Committee chairs include Marjorie Gamble Jean Cannon Betty Begg Beverly Allen and Emily Dolenc. Senior attendees should notify Marjorie Gamble before 3 p m today.

Committee Chooses Stater Burr Heads Publications Committee

At 3 p.m. the Publications committee will pick head editors and business managers for Kent Stater and Chestnut Burr from seven candidates. Three apply for Stater editor, two for Burr editor, and one for each business manager. Joe Mary and Bill Keene joined the committee by council appointment. Awards will be announced at the Student Publications banquet tomorrow at 5 p.m. in the Robin Hood.

Miles' Memorial Cantata to Be Sung at Christ Church

Harold Miles, music instructor, conducts his nine movement Memorial Cantata in a first performance at Christ Church Episcopal on Sunday May 30 at 7 30 p m. Guest soloists Mr and Mrs Joseph Lupkiewicz perform with Miles providing organ accompaniment. The work is dedicated to the departed.

Faculty Votes Proxy Appointment Powers Committee Members To Be Announced Next Week

Faculty approved giving President K. C. Leebrick authority to appoint faculty representatives to committees under the new student constitution. A special committee will review the constitution during its one year trial from May 1, 1943 to April 20, 1944. Nearly 40 vacancies exist on student faculty committees and graduation lists for 200 seniors were tentatively approved.

Play Tickets On Sale For 80 North Front Street

Tickets for the comedy 80 North Front Street go on sale in the Atrium today and tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cardinal Key members handle sales with all seats reserved. Aviation students admitted free with guests paying. stockholders must buy tickets but will be refunded invested money Monday.

Boswell To Open Kent AWVS This Fall

Activities of the American Women’s Voluntary Service will begin with official ceremonies led by Mrs Catherine Boswell next fall. Alumnae and any University women may join. A sponsoring committee will be chosen June 7 to end current quarter. Plans include a University War Bond and Stamp drive during fall registration.
